Welcome to the Livestock & Competitions Department

The Royal Highland Show is one of the UK's premier agricultural shows and attracts top livestock exhibitors from across the UK, as well as Ireland and the Isle of Man. Those wishing to enter livestock at the show, or take part in any of the array of competitions, can find everything they require in this area of our website.

2015 WAITING LISTS

We are delighted with the excellent entries we have received in the cattle and sheep sections so far. As such, numbers in certain breeds have reached their maximum and a waiting list is in place for those still wishing to enter.

BEEF CATTLE breeds currently on a waiting list are: BEED SHORTHORN, GALLOWAY, SALERS.

SHEEP BREEDS are: BLEU du MAINE, BLACKFACE, BLUEFACED LEICESTER, HEBRIDEAN, JACOB, NCC, NCC (Hill), NORTH of ENGLAND MULES, RYELAND, SCOTCH MULE, SUFFOLK, SWALEDALE, ZWARTBLES, NORTH of ENGLAND MULES.

Anyone who would like to be added to the waiting list for any of the above mentioned breeds should download and send in a paper application. Consideration is given on a first come, first served basis so please do not delay, to avoid disappointment.

Paper entries: 21st April. Online entries: 28th April: Beef Cattle, Dairy Cattle, Heavy and Light Horses Sheep, Dairy Goats, Harness, Grooming & Decoration Heavy Horse Turnouts, Horse and Pony Driving

Paper entries: 28th April. Online entries: 5th May: Dairy Produce

Paper entries: 19th May. Online entries: 26th May: Farriery, Poultry, Honey, Fleece

Paper & Online entries: 3rd June: Sheep Shearing, Show Jumping

The Show

Nearly 2000 entries, representing well over 5000 individual animals, are received each year and the prestige of winning at the Royal Highland Show makes the competition intense.

It's not just the best livestock that are judged at the Royal Highland Show. The finest dairy products, honey, traditional skills and show jumping are also assessed with the winners receiving highly coveted prizes.
